A mother's prayer - Part 2

Writer: ClarisseClarisse

This week, the focus is to extend the prayer to our children. Although it’s a heart-rending reality, children from a very young age are facing some severe challenges.

  • Peer pressure or rejection

  • anxiety, depression

  • loneliness

  • addictions (drugs, online video games etc.)

  • gender issues / confusion

  • sense of identity mainly dependent on social media

  • crime and violence

  • and more...

It’s overwhelming.

As mothers, we can feel powerless in the view of the colossal tsunami that equally threatens to swallow our kids and makes our mummy-heart sink.

From books, videos, social media, people connections, music, to games (some with subtle, deceptive content), we need to be alert, yet not paranoid.

Aware, yet wise,

Compassionate yet discerning,

Loving, yet steadfast to Christ’s principles.

It’s a tricky balance to strike. We won’t always get it right – well, I know I don’t. However, I know the One who gives me the divine wisdom, discernment, love, grace, and steadfastness I need to raise my child.

After all, it’s not all about me. It’s not about a performance evaluating process, nor it is a competition for the best-raised children.

It’s about :

  • relinquishing them unto God’s hands,

  • interceding for them day and night,

  • persevering in prayer as in the parable of the persistent widow (Luke 18:1-8),

  • asking for God to forgive them as Job did for his children,

  • pleading that they will be protected,

  • praying that they will make healthy choices, just like Daniel in a foreign country; that they will be resolute to follow Jesus – no matter what!

My dear sister, I invite you to pray with me (feel free to adapt this prayer to your present situation.)

Pray as often as you feel impressed. Give to God your burden of a mummy’s heart for her children. God will listen and intervene on your behalf and for His glory.

PS: If God impresses you also to pray more often for your children and get support, please get in touch with Uplift Ministries today. We will arrange an online mummy-prayer session and intercede together for our precious children.

Father God,

Thank You for my children. Thank you for the privilege of raising them and loving them.

I present before You today (add your children’s name).

You knitted them in my womb. You know everything about them: their desires, their needs, their strengths, their frailties. You know the challenges each one of them is facing today.

So, as you forgive me today, please also forgive my children for any of their wrongdoings.

In Your mercy and grace, preserve my children from evil. Build a hedge of protection around them. Keep them safe from physical, emotional, mental and spiritual harm or attacks.

As they draw closer to You, help them make the right choices’ especially when faced with temptations, peer pressure, and adversity.

Father God, be with them.

Reveal Yourself to them.

Guide them. So they may thirst for You and Your Word.

As You qualify me to teach them, place also on their path anointed mentors, Christ-centered friends and inspirational role models who will encourage them, strengthen them and inspire them to follow You.

Build them up into strong, faithful men and women of courage, equipped for the time we’re living. And they may become a blessing for whoever crosses their path whether at school, college, university, or at work.

Thank you for the great work that You have started in my children.

All the Victory and the Glory belong to You Father God, in Jesus’ name, Amen!"

Stay blessed my dear Sister!
